Weapons Down Gloves Up

Weapons Down Gloves Up is a boxing initiative and engagement tool to introduce the world of work to young people.

The Weapons Down Gloves Up programme is a 10-week boxing initiative combining access to boxing with employability training services. The purpose is to increase people’s confidence, resilience and work ready skills. At the end of the WDGU programme we can transition people into CE Careers for a two-week period to gain accredited health and safety qualifications, work experience and the opportunity of employment.

If people are unemployed and on benefits, all these services will be fully funded, the only thing we require from you is your commitment and a willingness to learn!

PLEASE NOTE: The Weapons Down Gloves Up programme is for anyone who is unemployed and wanting to better themselves, not just people who have been or who are engaged in crime.

Tony Bellew is a big part of this programme and after gaining employment we will be having celebration ceremonies. Anyone who has completed WDGU, CE Careers and stayed in employment for 6 months will be rewarded at an event with Tony Bellew hosting and presenting certificates and awards.

Contact us if Merseyside-based, aged 19-25 years and unemployed. If you are aged over 25 years and unemployed, we will still endeavour to assist you into employment.

Weapons Down Gloves Up have also developed e-modules for those under 18, these are designed to deter people from criminality and address areas such as child exploitation, drugs, gangs, image orientation and more. Merseyside schools can contact us for more information about the WDGU e-learning package.

We want to place as many people into employment as possible, to date we have secured 200 jobs. We are looking for employers to recruit qualified people who have completed our WDGU community programme and gained relevant health and safety qualifications required to work through CE Careers.
